Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the WIREapp (“the app”, “we”, “us”), published by WeCraft Solutions, handles information when you use it. By using WIRE, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect, sell, or store personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, calendar, or precise location. We do not operate user accounts, and you never sign in to use the app. We run no server that holds a profile of you.

The one exception to “nothing leaves your device” is advertising: to serve ads, our advertising partner processes certain device and ad-interaction data, as described in section 4. We do not receive your personal information from them — only aggregate, anonymous reporting about ad performance.

2. Information stored on your device

Everything the app remembers about you stays on your phone, in the app's private storage:

• Saved stories — the articles you bookmark, kept as a list of article references.
• Your preferences — theme (light / dark / automatic), app language, article language, text size, and your alert and offline-reading toggles.
• Recent searches — the last few search terms you typed, so you can tap them again.
• Offline copies — when offline reading is enabled, the text of your saved stories is cached on the device so you can read without a connection.
• First-run flags— simple markers that record you've already seen the setup screens.

None of this is transmitted to us. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared. Deleting the app removes all of it.

3. Network requests

To show you the news, the app requests articles, categories and search results from our content provider's read-only publishing API over an encrypted HTTPS connection. These requests contain only what is needed to return the right content — for example, the article or category you asked for and your chosen content language.

As with any internet request, the server that answers it necessarily receives your device's IP address and standard connection metadata in order to send the response back. We do not use this to build a profile of you, and we do not attach any identifier of you to these requests.

When an article contains images, your device loads those images directly from wherever the publisher hosts them, exactly as a web browser would.

4. Advertising

WIRE is free to read and is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To show, cap and measure those ads, AdMob and its partners may collect and process certain information from your device, such as your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / Advertising ID on Android), device type and operating system, coarse location derived from your IP address, and data about how you interacted with an ad. Where permitted, this may be used to personalise the ads you see.

• Consent.Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and the UK under GDPR), we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can choose non-personalised ads instead. You can change that choice later from the app's settings.
• App Tracking Transparency (iOS).On iOS, the app asks for your permission before any tracking across other companies' apps and websites can occur. If you decline, ads are still shown but are non-personalised. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
• Reset or limit ad tracking at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising).
• Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy. See also How Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Advertising is the only mechanism in WIRE that shares any data with a third party. We still use no analytics, attribution, crash-reporting or social-login SDKs, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

5. Sharing an article

If you tap Share, the app hands the article's title and link to your device's own share sheet. What happens next is entirely up to you and to the app you pick (Messages, Mail, WhatsApp, etc.). We are not involved in, and do not record, that action.

6. Notifications

The “Breaking alerts” switch in Settings is a stored preference on your device. WIRE does not currently send push notifications and does not register your device for them. If we introduce push notifications in a future version, this policy will be updated before that feature ships.

7. Purchases

WIRE currently contains no in-app purchases and no subscriptions, so there is no payment processing and no payment data of any kind. If we later add an optional ad-free purchase, this policy will be updated before that feature ships.

8. Children's privacy

WIRE is a general-audience news reader and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app shows ads, we request non-personalised ads where a user is identified as a child, in line with the app stores' Families requirements. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will address it.

9. Data retention & security

Because we don't collect your data, we hold nothing to retain. There is no user database to breach. Data created by your use of the app lives on your device, protected by your device's own security, and is removed when you uninstall the app. All network traffic between the app and the content API is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.

10. Your choices

• Change your theme, languages and text size at any time in You → Settings.
• Turn offline reading on or off; turning it off stops articles being cached for offline use.
• Clear your recent searches from the search screen.
• Remove any bookmark at any time from the Saved tab.
• Choose non-personalised ads when prompted (in regions where consent is required), and reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
• Delete all app data by uninstalling the app.

11. Third-party services

For transparency, the third-party services WIRE relies on are: Google AdMob (advertising), and the read-only publishing API that supplies the articles, plus the image hosts referenced inside those articles. There are no analytics, attribution, or social-login providers embedded in the app. Each service processes data under its own privacy policy, linked above.

12. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data held about you. Because WeCraft Solutions does not collect or store personal data from WIRE users on its own servers, we hold no such data to provide or erase. Data processed for advertising is handled by Google as described in section 4 — you can exercise your choices there through the consent prompt and your device's ad settings, and directly with Google under its privacy policy. You remain in full control of the data stored locally on your device, which you can delete at any time as described above. If you have a question about this, contact us and we'll answer it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or as laws change. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
